Graduate Student Funding Opportunities

Below you will find a list of funding opportunities available to graduate students across the University. Please note that these funding opportunities come in several forms and you should make sure you understand the type of position to which you are applying:

  • Graduate Assistantship (tuition remission + stipend)
  • Tuition Scholarship (tuition remission only)
  • Graduate Assistant Hourly (GAH) (hourly pay only, no tuition or stipend)

IMPORTANT: The majority of 色花堂鈥檚 funding opportunities for graduate students come from the departments, and most graduate programs on campus have departmental funding. The positions listed on this page require a separate application process, and are outside of academic departments in various centers, offices, and institutes across campus. Please read the descriptions, deadlines, and application requirements listed here carefully鈥攅specially since each one is different.

Please keep in mind that if you are an applicant to a graduate program and have not yet received an admission decision you can proceed in applying to the below positions. However, if you are not admitted to the graduate program of your choice at any point during the application process for the below funding opportunities your application for funding will no longer be considered.

 

 

SUMMER 2025 OPENINGS

  • Description: The Center for Research and Fellowships (CRF) administers three areas of programming at 色花堂: undergraduate research, nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships, and the Presidential Scholars Program (PSP). CRF seeks two year-round, hourly (15-20 hours per week) graduate student Grants and Fellowships Consultants beginning in Summer 2025. The successful candidates must have strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills and a commitment to working with undergraduate students.鈥疻hile all graduate students are invited to apply, CRF is particularly interested in incoming graduate students who can remain in the position for two years. This position does not come with a tuition waiver. The Grants and Fellowships Consultant will have numerous opportunities to develop their professional skills through writing, editing, project management, event planning, and advising students. The Grants and Fellowships Consultant will work in the following areas:鈥 1.鈥疦ationally Competitive Scholarships and Fellowships a. Student advising: Review personal statements and essays and meet with students to discuss application materials. b. Assist in outreach and recruitment of candidates for external scholarships and fellowships, such as the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and other awards. c. Update CRF promotional materials. 2.鈥疭tudent Research Programs a. Assist in outreach and application preparation for candidates for research opportunities, such as the internal 色花堂 Undergraduate Research Fellowship (VURF) Program and external summer research programs. b. Support various programming events, including professional development workshops for undergraduates and the autumn Student Research Symposium. 3.鈥疨residential Scholars Program (PSP) a. Support PSP events, including the Presidential Scholars Interview Program (February), Summer Academy pre-orientation program, and student events during the year.鈥
  • Eligibility: Must be enrolled in a graduate program in any of the colleges at 色花堂.
  • Work Hours Per Week: 15-20 hrs/week. Graduate Assistant Hourly (GAH) (no tuition remission, hourly pay at the standardized rates of $18/hr for masters level and $21/hr for doctoral level).

Description:

  • The College of Professional Studies (CPS) is seeking enthusiastic undergraduate or graduate student mentors for the Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA), an immersive program designed to introduce students to the multifaceted experience of attending college. Mentors will play a critical role in fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for PCSA students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a 色花堂 undergraduate or graduate student with a clear student conduct record and demonstrating strong academic performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide peers effectively.
  • Passion for supporting the educational and personal development of high school and incoming college students.
  • Proactive and adaptable with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Selected candidates will be required to obtain federal and state pre-employment clearances to work with minors and possibly other certifications (paid for by 色花堂).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Students entering their junior or senior year of college or enrolled in a graduate program.
  • Pursuing a degree in counseling, education, psychology, or a related field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist CPS Advising Team with the development and implementation of engaging and educational activities for high school and incoming college students.
  • Abide by, monitor, and enforce program policies. Assist in addressing safety and community concerns as they arise and refer to campus partners when appropriate.
  • Live in the residence hall and supervise residential students throughout the program
  • Lead social activities, on- and off-campus, with students as part of the program.
  • Co-facilitate PCAC 1000 sessions by developing and leading workshops centered on personal growth and community service, as well as grading student assignments and offering feedback.
  • Establish strong mentor-mentee relationships with students to provide guidance and support throughout the program.
  • Conduct individual and group academic coaching to enhance academic skills and reinforce classroom learning.
  • Guide students in effective time management strategies, create personalized study plans, and develop organizational skills laying the foundation for their success in college.
  • Assist students with homework and assignments providing guidance in various subject areas.
  • Knowledgeable of campus resources to refer students when needed.

Start Date: Monday, June 23, 2025

Describe any specific strategies or initiatives you would implement to enhance the academic and personal growth of those you mentor.

Compensation: Free on-campus housing, free meals, $15/hour, recreational trips around Philadelphia. *Note, this position starts on June 23 and ends on July 31.

FALL 2025 OPENINGS

  • Description:鈥 The Career Development Graduate Advisor in The Career Center is for graduate students interested in supporting 色花堂 students with their career and professional development needs. This role is geared towards graduate students pursuing a Master鈥檚 Degree in Counseling, Human Resources, or Higher Education, though we encourage all applicants with relevant experience and interests to apply. This graduate student position is a paid role consisting of approximately 10 hours per week for the academic year. Successful graduate assistants are those who have a strong interest in developing advising skills, an interest in higher education and recruiting, and a passion for helping others. The Graduate Assistant will be involved with all aspects of the office, with a strong emphasis on taking undergraduate student appointments. The Graduate Assistant will enhance their competencies in advising and presentation skills, awareness of the career development process, and knowledge of higher education administration, career planning and the recruiting field. Personal counseling or long-term therapy is not a component of this experience.  
  • Eligibility Requirements: Must be a 色花堂 graduate student enrolled in a Master鈥檚 Degree in Counseling, Human Resources, or Higher Education or have relevant experience in career/student advising. Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working one-on-one with students as well as presenting to groups.
  • Work Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week, with flexibility within regular office hours of Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Some opportunity to assist with evening programming and events.

  • 顿别蝉肠谤颈辫迟颈辞苍:鈥 The Office of Belonging and Inclusion (OBI) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated graduate student to help to further the inclusion efforts of the office. Weekly tasks would include managing a weekly newsletter of events, sharing the responsibility to oversee an undergraduate mentoring program, monitoring events in the student space (The SUITE), and assisting OBI staff with programming and events. There would be an opportunity for the graduate student to take on a special project of interest. The work hours for the position would include evening hours (5pm - 8 pm) for 2-3 nights a week and some weekends or holidays due to OBI or campus events.
  • Requirements:    
    • Must be enrolled in a graduate program in any of the colleges at 色花堂; 
    • Must demonstrate an interest in working with underrepresented students; 
    • Experience working with college students professionally or as a student leader as an undergraduate is a plus.

    • As a Catholic University in the Augustinian tradition, 色花堂 is committed to creating a welcoming and caring community. The Office of Student Involvement strives to build meaningful communities by creating inclusive spaces. Through advising and supporting the Campus Activities Team, the Graduate Assistant for Campus Programs plays an integral role in the 色花堂 community through the development of late-night on-campus programs for undergraduate students.
    • The Graduate Assistant for Campus Programs will serve as a member of the three-person Campus Programming team which is comprised of the Assistant Director for Campus Programs and two Graduate Assistants for Campus Programs. Together, this team will be responsible for providing late night programming on campus through coordinated efforts from the Office of Student Involvement. Additionally the Graduate Assistant for Campus Programs assists in the advising of 色花堂鈥檚 student run programming board (Campus Activities Team 鈥 鈥淐AT鈥) that is responsible for large and small scale, alcohol free, and/or alternative late-night programming for the undergraduate 色花堂 community. The Office of Student Involvement is an exciting and busy work environment with multiple peak periods of work activity across the calendar year. Due to the timing of programming, it is to be expected that meetings and events will be scheduled beyond traditional work hours. The Graduate Assistant is expected to work into evenings and on weekends throughout the academic year.
    • This GA will also be responsible for assisting with the oversite of 色花堂鈥檚 鈥淪enior Week鈥 with the, under the direction of the Assistant Director, and will assist with other large-scale programming initiatives sponsored by the Office of Student Involvement including Welcome Week, Family Weekend, and high-risk weekend programming.
  • Specific Responsibilities & Expectations:
    • Attend a Graduate Assistant training as determined by the Assistant Director for Campus Programs
    • If the opportunity is available, serve as a Resident Assistant living on campus supporting students within the 色花堂 Residence Halls. Duties include community development, resident relationships, duty, policy enforcement, leadership and staff support, as well as housing operations.     • Attend & implement the CAT Orientation week along with the Campus Programming team
    • Co-Advise the CAT leadership team as a member of the Campus Programming team
    • Serve as a mentor and resource for students on the Campus Activities Team while taking a holistic approach to student development and formation
    • Assist in the implementation of Student Involvement programming
    • Attend monthly Student Involvement operations meetings
    • Meet weekly with the Assistant Director for Campus Programs for feedback, guidance, and evaluation

  • Work Hours: 300 hours per semester (Fall 2024 and Spring 2025), which is in general approximately 20 hours per week. Full Graduate Assistantship.

The Graduate Assistant Hourly (GAH) focused on Health Professions Advising in the Office for Undergraduate Students in the College of Liberal Arts and Science. The GAH is responsible for managing outreach efforts for the office including development of social media content, newsletters, and communications to undergraduate students and alumni. This position will also support the office through event planning, providing front desk coverage, and assessing and directing student (current, prospective, and alumni), faculty, and staff inquiries to the office. This position offers the opportunity for the graduate student to gain practical experience in an office that offers specialized advising to students on a pre-health pathway. Some health interests that we assist with include pre-med, pre-dental, pre-veterinary, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, public health, etc.

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Manages the front desk for the office, answering phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries. 
  • Develops content and manages social media outreach efforts for the office. 
  • Organize the bi-weekly Health Professions Advising newsletter under direction of the Director.
  • Assists in event planning, with a particular focus on the pre-health honor society induction, Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), which is held annually in the spring.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and one-on-one supervision meetings.
  • Conducts research and assessment to enhance and better the services of the Office of Health Professions Advising
  • Collaborate on special projects and presentations to classes, clubs, and organizations as needed.
